We need volunteers to help with the "Fresh Food Drive" at the Oxford Farmers Market.
Volunteers would attend the Farmers Market in Oxford from 3pm - 6:30pm every Tuesday evening. The Market is at the Old Armory Pavilion. Your efforts would help coordinate fresh food donations for those in need.
- Pass Out "Fresh Food Drive" information cards
- Collect & Record Fresh Food Donations in the binder
- Gather donated food into provided bags for other volunteers to transport to recipient agency at end of market
We are starting this "Fresh Food Drive" as a part of our statewide Gleaning Network that aims to deliver Fresh, Healthy Food to those in need in our local area. We also aim to reduce food waste by preventing good food that is simply "ugly fruits and vegetables" from being thrown away when they are still good to eat.
This is a terrific opportunity to expose your family to Farmers Markets, food waste, hunger, & volunteerism. It is educational, fun, and helps make our state a better place.
All are welcome! Students, families, church groups, scout troops, rotary clubs, etc.
Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
