About Fresh Food Drive- Hernando Farmers Market

874e1f32e6bff3caaf8791fe61fd794ba0fda10b

We are encouraging Fresh Food Donations at the Hernando Farmers Market, every Saturday from 8am-1pm. This will be ongoing, throughout the growing season.

Volunteer Duties:
- Pass Out "Fresh Food Drive" information cards
- Collect & Record Fresh Food Donations
- Take donated food to recipient agency at end of market

We are starting this "Fresh Food Drive" as a part of our statewide Gleaning Network that aims to deliver Fresh, Healthy Food to those in need in our local area. We also aim to reduce food waste by preventing good food that is simply "ugly fruits and vegetables" from being thrown away when they are still good to eat.

This is a terrific opportunity to expose your family to Farmers Markets, food waste, hunger, & volunteerism. It is educational, fun, and helps make our state a better place.
