Greens Field Gleanings
Hosted by: Mississippi Gleaning Network
About Greens Field Gleanings
Farmers typically don't pick turnip/collard/mustard greens in the field that don't meet certain visual and physical characteristics. Often times these greens are perfectly good to eat, they just aren't pretty enough to sell.
Our volunteers gather around 8am in the morning, visit the fields, and gather all of the greens that were left behind after the farmer harvested the crop. We typically finish around 11am and are headed back home before lunch.
All you need is some closed-toe shoes, a 5 gal. bucket, and a willing attitude. Often we have extra buckets you can borrow! Just come join us and help feed families in need.
