About Art Kit Day at Art for the People

We will be assembling art kits for Austinites attending the City of Austin Congregate Meal Program. We are bringing Austin together with art. Join us!

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department partners with Meals on Wheels and More for the delivery of congregate meals to recreation and senior activity centers through out Austin. The congregate meals program is open to anyone 60 years of age or older. In addition to lunch, participants share social and recreational activities and receive additional benefits such as nutrition education, health and welfare counseling and information and referral services.

The program operates at 7 Parks and Recreation facilities and 1 Neighborhood Center -

Alamo Recreation Center
Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center
Dove Springs Recreation Center
Gustavo "Gus" L. Garcia Recreation Center
Metz Recreation Center
South Austin Neighborhood Center-Durwood
South Austin Senior Activity Center
Virginia L. Brown Recreation Center

Application Process

Saturday Feb. 2 2:00 - 12:00
Art for the People 1711 S. 1st St.
Join us for a few minutes or stay for 2 hours in the comfortable Art for the People Gallery filled with affordable local art. We will be assembling our Origami and Super Hero Coloring Card art kits for Depelchin Children's Center and The Austin Congregant Meal Program.

The 2019 quarterly Share Art Heal Art Kit Days at Art for the People are made possible by the generous donation of 5% of exhibition art sales from the 3rd Annual "Art of Celebration" group exhibition.
