About Volunteer Mediators needed for the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program
The Shalom Victim Offender Reconciliation Program of Northwest Ohio (VORP) is an alternative process made available to judges, probation officers and other community agencies. Meetings are arranged between offenders and their victims, giving victims a voice in the system and offenders a chance to make things right.
Shalom VORP of Northwest Ohio…
Cooperates with and receives referrals from police, adult and juvenile courts, probation officers, attorneys and other community agencies in Fulton, Williams, Defiance, Henry and Lucas Counties as well as SE Michigan.
VORP offers a structure, a neutral third-party mediator who is a trained community volunteer, and an opportunity for:
Responsibility
Restitution
Reconciliation
VORP is a voluntary program where referrals are pursued on the basis that both victim and offender are willing to participate.
Shalom utilizes trained volunteers who facilitate the mediations between victims and offenders in a safe and confidential session.
