About Wreaths Across America Partnership

Each year, SEES faculty, staff and administration, in cooperation with SEES parents, work very hard to offer unique, meaningful opportunities to educate our children in the classroom and beyond. We feel it is an important aspect of our growth, not only as a faith-based community, but also as citizens, to look beyond the walls of our school and our church to see how we can expand the minds of our students. This year is no different, and we are excited to bring to you all an awesome opportunity to give back to our community and to learn a very important aspect of being contributing citizens in our country.
Many of you may have heard of an organization called WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA. Each December, on National Wreaths Across America Day, the mission to “Remember, Honor, and Teach” is carried out by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies at more than 1,600 Veteran’s cemeteries here in the U.S., at sea, and abroad. One of these locations is right here in our area at the Amelia Courthouse Veteran’s Cemetery ("VAVCAM"). The wreaths for these ceremonies are all sponsored by local citizens from the surrounding community.
This year, SEES is proud to be partnered with the Wreaths Across America initiative in support of VAVCAM. As of today, this cemetery has only received 490 wreaths. To ensure that a wreath is laid at the grave site of each Veteran buried at our location, this number needs to climb to 5000 by December 1, 2020. Last year, this location fell short by 1000 wreaths - please stand with us and help to ensure that not one grave goes without recognition this Christmas.
Sponsoring a wreath, is quick and easy. Simply visit: https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/VA0664P to choose the number of wreaths you’d like to sponsor. The cost to sponsor a single wreath is $15. Sponsoring multiple wreaths is also an option offered: 2 for $30, 5 for $75 (most popular option) and 10 for $150. The wreaths will be shipped directly to the cemetery to be laid on National Wreaths Across America day in December!
On December 16, 2020, a Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at VAVCAM to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of REMEMBRANCE wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. By saying the veteran’s name out loud, they are truly never forgotten.
In addition to the sponsoring of the wreaths, we will offer SEES bus service for students and their families, from our campus to VAVCAM, so that our community can take part in this incredibly meaningful wreath laying ceremony.
