About Fund Development
Over the course of a lifetime, a person with a high school diploma or GED will earn $1,000,000 more than someone without one. Education makes a clear and palpable difference to a person’s life, and you can be a part of that important change by volunteering with Seeds of Literacy’s Fund Development Committee.
Seeds of Literacy is a nonprofit organization proving free GED preparation and basic education to adults in Cuyahoga County, and is completely funded by donations and grants. As part of our Fund Development Committee, you’ll enable us to keep providing personalized education for our more than 1,000 students annually. Our Fund Development Committee seeks to maintain a diverse funding stream and investigate new funding opportunities, as well as forge partnerships with Cleveland’s philanthropic organizations and individuals. The committee also engages our Board of Directors in fundraising activities and enacts the organization’s fundraising plan.
Interested committee members should have expertise in fundraising and Cleveland’s philanthropic community, and a strong desire to succeed in a volatile economic environment. Members should also be willing to reach out to their community on behalf of Seeds of Literacy. The committee meets monthly, in person or by phone.
