The mission of the Secret Sock Society is to provide the resources that increase opportunities for North Country students to participate in winter sports and activities. Students are served through three programs. The Snow Angels Program has a nine-year history of providing snow clothes and boots, which allow students to participate in recess. The Sock Program gifts ski socks to local student skier/snowboarders at Cannon Mountain. The Snowsports Field Trip Program hosts field trip to Cannon Mountain for local 5th grade classes to go skiing/snowboarding.
The Snowsports Field Trip Program removes the economic barrier that prevents so many local students from participating in winter sports and activities. The field trip model enables the inclusion of all members of a classroom community, unlike the pay-to-play school-based ski programs. A partnership with Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country allows students of all abilities to participate in their class field trip. Each students is provided a lesson, rental equipment, a lift tickets and bus ride to and from Cannon Mountain.
