COMMUNITY CARES CENTER Project
Saving Grace Outreach runs a local outreach center in the heart of the village of Cattaraugus, NY; for the past 8 years our focus is helping woman and children, and families with food needs, household needs, clothing and emergency shelter. We are continuing God’s work by expanding our reach with a new "Community Cares Center," located on 26 Mill St., Cattaraugus.
We need to help them raise funds to renovate this 3 story warehouse with 28,000 sq. feet so we can help open a youth center with indoor archery range run by the Christian Bow-hunters Association, Expand or Community kitchen, Food Warehouse, Shared offices with other non-profits, Expand our transitional housing, and community space for meetings, medical/education clinics.
Our First Goal is $50,000 to cover our new roof, and utilities. The entire project will be $500,000 estimated costs to finish all 3 levels of this building. We are looking for the hands and feet of Christ to help us in making a difference in Cattaraugus and surrounding areas.
This God’s sized project will take a village to work together for the good of the community. Each year we have a huge fundraiser in the village of Cattaraugus with a 5K, Children’s Carnival, Music, Food, and Basket Raffle. We have been working on covering insurance on the Mill Street project but are still in need partners to help us Grow with God. This project when complete will benefit Cattaraugus, Erie, and Chautauqua, Counties. We already have distributed 16,000 lbs. of food from our warehouse to many after school programs, food pantries and soup kitchens across all 3 counties.
We continue to use God’s warehouse to host the mobile food pantry with the partnership of the Food Bank of WNY. So, even though we have no lights, no heat and water pours through our roof; we still shine bright for Jesus! We believe that God will make a way; and he will send us partners. Our past support has come from The Renodin Foundation, Junior League of Buffalo, M&T Charitable Foundation, The Salvation Army, The United Way, Lowes, Wal-Mart, United Methodist Women, and The Food bank of WNY, Genesis House, local Churches, Community, Fire/EMT, local Banks, and Catt-LV school. We can do more together than we can do apart. Please look at our project and see if you can get involved today.
We on average help over 15,000 people from our outreach today. Once we open the new Community Cares Center, we can potentially double that number through our various programs once our facility is open.
Our clients are the working poor, and transportation is a huge issue. In order to have a decent paying job you must travel over 20-30 miles. Our rural village is over 40 minute drive to Olean, Jamestown or Hamburg, NY. You can see where this is a problem for the entry- level worker; or someone trying to get to social services, etc. We have seen first hand problems arising from no vehicles to shared transportation. We try to help with gas cards or bus passes but they are very limited.
Having shared office spaces available for other agency services that would help our area is our plan. We hope to assist working families with medical/dental services and nutrition education. We work with Healthy Community Alliance to provide education classes here in Cattaraugus for youth and elderly alike. We work with Cornell Cooperative extension and “Just Say Yes to Vegetables” services as well during our food truck operations. We will be able to do so much more once the facility is complete and ready for occupancy.
