About Hospital Accompaniment
SAVAS companions are available round the clock to meet survivors and their loved ones at area hospital emergency rooms. Companions provide support for victims and their loved ones, answer questions about medical procedures and collection of forensic evidence, and provide information should the victim or their loved ones desire follow-up support services or referral information. SAVAS can respond to Sentara Potomac Hospital, Prince William Hospital, and Inova Fairfax Hospital.
We need volunteers to help with:
Companion Services
Trained volunteers and staff may accompany sexual assault survivors 24 hours a day on a rotating basis to the hospital for physical evidence recovery exams. S/he may also accompany survivors and their loved ones to police interviews, court proceedings, and interviews with the Commonwealth Attorney.
