BRAVO is an organization of community volunteers who support San Francisco Ballet with a variety of activities. Bolstered by their enthusiasm for dance, BRAVO has become a national model for dance volunteer groups. This active group contributes thousands of hours of volunteer assistance every year and provides vital services to support the Company. Besides doing lots of good things, it's also a chance to learn more about the exciting world of ballet, and have a lot of fun!
As a BRAVO volunteer you can participate in a number of activities such as:
1) Administrative support – Assist with clerical, public relations, and outreach work at the SF Ballet and Ballet School offices; perform retail and organizational work at the SF Ballet Shop; assist the Education Department's Dance in Schools program; and work on artistic projects such as hand addressing, calligraphy, and graphic arts.
2) Nutcracker - The busiest time of year for BRAVO members is during Nutcracker season. About 45 volunteers are needed for each performance. Staff the Ballet Shop, assist backstage and at Club Nut, decorate the Opera House, and work at Family Performances. BRAVO also has volunteer opportunities during the repertory season, January through May.
3) Special Projects - Help Ballet staff with special events such as receptions, CHEF program, Spring Student Showcase, orchestra auditions, and assist SF Ballet Auxiliary with Opening Night Gala and fashion show luncheon.
4) Translation work – Since Since SF Ballet is an international company, volunteers who are fluent in a second language are occasionally needed for translating duties.
