A number of years ago, the city of San Antonio decided to make a change. It was a noble undertaking. We, as citizens of this great city, realized that we were failing not only the homeless cats and dogs that wandered our streets, but the humans whose lives they could change. As we came to this realization, we sought a solution that would strive to not only save lives, but shift our culture to one that values the individual lives of animals and people alike. And so we set out on a mission to make San Antonio a better place for its people and their animal companions. Our ultimate goal has always been to serve as a safety-net for the most vulnerable animals in the city and to save as many pets as possible. With your help, we have made amazing strides! Our programs and services have saved over 23,000 animals since 2012 and that number climbs each and every day.
We cannot begin to count the hours, effort, and tears that have gone into getting us to this point, nor do we wish to. The rewards of animal rescue far outweigh the costs, both financially and emotionally. This work takes a toll on the people that fight tirelessly to save lives every day. But what makes it so worthwhile, is not only the animals that are saved, but the grateful smile of a child with a new playmate; the spark of life in the tired eyes of a widow that has bonded with a fellow lost soul; the man who sees something of himself in a little dog named Chance...

With every animal we save, we are changing two lives. The life of the animal that was destined for euthanasia, and the life of the human that finds the perfect companion.
Changing lives is challenging work, and we couldn't do so without the adopters, volunteers, foster homes, staff, and donors that support us. Due to the vast numbers of animals and people that we communicate with on a daily basis, we rely heavily on innovation. Our management team is comprised of dynamic individuals, replete with the entrepreneurial spirit. In fact, you will often find a member or two of our management team working from the office at Geekdom! We are entrenched in the heartbeat of the city, surrounded by tech startups, experienced professionals, and a network of extremely dedicated and gracious volunteers. These partnerships have allowed us the opportunity to participate in unique events, such as Uber's #UberKittens campaign. With the support of the San Antonio tech community, we are now able to provide solutions to previously insurmountable challenges. We are not only providing jobs and experience to an under-supported community in San Antonio, we are better supporting our animals, and ultimately the lives they touch.
There is no end to the challenges we face as an organization, as stewards of our mission, and citizens of the city we love. The animals we serve are only the beginning of our mission. These animals go on to change lives of their own, and that is what makes our mission so incredibly important. However, we cannot continue towards our vision of a better San Antonio without your continued support.
