About Volunteer at the 7th Annual San Antonio Book Festival!

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Festival. Since its inception, nearly 3,000 devoted Festival fans have volunteered their time and talent to make the San Antonio Book Festival a huge success. A volunteer’s job can be as varied as: author escort, “gofer,” greeter, parking coordinator, book signing guide, and supply manager. Each position is equally important and we are very grateful to all of our volunteers. Without you there is no Book Festival! Making a difference in the local community while having a great time—what could be better?

Volunteers receive a free T-shirt and access to the volunteer lounge for refreshments. Volunteers are encouraged to partake in the Festival fun after their shift has been completed.

Children's Area Book Signing (8:45 AM - 11:30 AM)

You're going to love our Festival children's space which offers young readers a day of literary fun. As a volunteer, you may be asked to pitch in with one of our nonprofit partners, help in the book sales/signing area, or do odd jobs. Please plan to arrive onsite 20 minutes prior to your scheduled shift. You will receive more information from your Festival chairperson prior to the Festival.

At the Book Signing tables, festival goers get to meet their favorite authors and get their books signed! Volunteers help make this possible. All shifts: please plan to arrive at the festival site 20 minutes in advance of your scheduled shift. There is a small chance shift times may change slightly; if that happens we will notify you right away. Volunteers for Book Signing must be 18 and over (Floaters can be 16 and over).
