Our Story
Restore Education began as an outreach of a local congregation who wanted to help drop outs in San Antonio. They founded Restore Education in 2008 and began to help students to get their GED, pass the college entrance test, and enroll in college. In fact, it was the top performing GED to college programs in the Texas Education Agency's Dropout Recovery Pilot Program (2009). The founding Executive Director, John Rhodes, wanted to create a flexible pathway for the youth of San Antonio to move forward in their lives and become who they were meant to be. He pioneered a GED to College model in line with Jobs for the Future's Back on Track program that was unique in the region and state. With the relationship that Restore Education created with other agencies and with San Antonio College, the program was able to serve over 2,800 students in its first 4 years. Restore became an independent non-profit in 2012 and has continued to serve students wanting to improve their lives.
