About Faith-Based Mentoring for Teens

The dictionary defines a mentor as a trusted counselor or guide. At Reset, we take it a step further. Our mentors provide stability, wisdom and a light in an otherwise dark world. Relational mentoring requires you to build trust in a life where trust has been destroyed. It requires patience and the ability to love like Jesus, seeing beyond the dysfunction into the destiny.

Twice a month, our mentors get the opportunity to go into the Juvenile Justice Center in Williamson County to help with our "Sunday Fun Day" events. We also have weekly Teen Nights at our teen center in Round Rock where our mentors come to spend time with our teens in the community, share a meal and participate in some fun activities.

Once you are assigned a teen to mentor one-on-one, you can have visitation with them while they're still in the Juvenile Justice facility and once your teen has reached a specific phase in their programming, you can begin taking your teen on "furloughs" to begin plugging back into their community. This can be as simple as going to eat, looking for job applications, checking out local college opportunities, seeing a new movie that is out, attending a church service etc. Reset is one of the only mentoring agencies in the State of Texas that is allotted the privilege to take our teens out of the Juvenile Justice Center to help them move forward towards bettering their lives and giving them some sense of normalcy.

Application Process

An application and authorization form will need to be filled out and sent back in to our Executive Assistant with a copy of your driver's license to begin a criminal background check with Williamson County. Once your background check has come back clear, the next step will be obtaining fingerprints and attending mandatory training for the county to begin serving in the juvenile justice facility. We also have a separate Reset Training class you must attend before mentoring with us.
