About Regarding Cancer: Volunteer Details

Trained cancer survivors and caregivers offer peer-to-peer support to the cancer-diagnosed individual and their caregivers in 2 programs.
Trained volunteers are matched with a cancer patient or caregiver of the same type of cancer to offer pee-to-peer emotional support and practical help from someone who has been there before. Matches are made based on type of cancer, stage, age and lifestyle. This relationship inspires hope and offers the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from someone who is familiar with the cancer experience.
Trained volunteers are placed in local infusion centers to visit with cancer patients, offer emotional support and encouragement, and information about community resources during treatments. We service local infusion rooms at Texas Oncology, Austin Cancer Centers, Seton Infusion Center, St. David's South Austin Medical Center, St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White and Livestrong Cancer Institutes at Dell Medical School.
