About Red Paw Emergency Relief
In conjunction with the American Red Cross SEPA Chapter, Red Paw provides 24/7 emergency transport, shelter and veterinary care for animals involved in residential fires and other incidents. We work within a network of animal care related facilities, including veterinary care facilities, boarding facilities, kennels and training facilities, in conjunction with animal rescue groups and fosters in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
We need volunteers to help with:
Dog Mate/Handler
Volunteer dog mates will work with these dogs, teaching them basic commands and manners, promoting them, taking them to events and helping them get fostered or adopted.
Requirements:
-Dog Handling Experience
-Daytime and Weekend Availability
-Good working alone
-Knowledge of the region
-Must own your own vehicle
Emergency Transport Responder
Responsibilities
Respond to disaster scenes and other emergencies to offer assistance to those affected by the incident with pets
Interview and assist individuals and families with their disaster-caused pet emergency needs
Assist clients with filling out appropriate paperwork
Transport pet to appropriate facility
Attend training classes
Job Details
Volunteers will be on-call one day a week for a 5-hour shift (ex. 12am-5am or 12pm-5pm)
Volunteers will keep in contact with their County Liaison
Volunteers who live in the surrounding counties will be assigned to that county and respond to disasters in their area
Skills Required
Must be willing to be on call at minimum one shift a week
Must be ok working independently
Demonstrate the ability to work well in stressful situations and in a team-oriented setting
Valid Driver's License
Must have own vehicle
Strong dog handling skills
Must be able to lift at least 40lbs
