About Computer Mentor

You do not need to be a computer expert, just have the basics and a kind, patient heart. Many members are intimidated by, or unfamiliar with computers. Some were criticized and bullied in the past, which has taken a toll on their self esteem and confidence overall. Further, many could not have access to computers due to financial or situational barriers. As a computer mentor, we are looking for someone to encourage members, and assist them in becoming more computer literate in a variety of ways. Some of the activities a computer mentor may focus on are:
Mouse Training: Using a training program already in place, provide guidance and encouragement while sitting with a member as they practice their hand-eye coordination using the mouse.
Accessing a browser and using the internet: Assist members on how to open a browser, use the address bar, interpret the results of a search page, and then access the specific website/link desired.
Email: Many members have not had exposure to using email. Some tasks may be assisting in setting up email, how to open and respond to email, and how to access an established account to check email.

TIME COMMITMENT: 1 hour per week, or several hours a month
