About NEWCITY 2015 Parcel Survey Volunteer Project
NEWCITY Neighborhood Partnership is requesting your help to complete a Community Impact Measurement 2015 Parcel Survey. This survey collects vital data on the building condition, building use, and status of over 5,700 parcels in the Treme/Lafitte, Tulane/Gravier, and 7th Ward neighborhoods of New Orleans. This data is collected every other year, and provides valuable insight that helps to inform decision-making around development and tracks progress since Hurricane Katrina. The data is mapped and shared with NEWCITY partners and on Whodata.net.
NEWCITY Neighborhood Partnership is a coalition of over 80 residents, businesses, and organizations that live and work in Treme/Lafitte, Tulane/Gravier, and 7th Ward Neighborhoods and meet regularly to share information, discuss issues, and build partnerships for action. NEWCITY does the important work of convening this group of active stakeholders, tracking development, and sharing new information.
Volunteers will:
• Undergo a 20 minute training at Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center (2200 Lafitte Street)
• Walk a NEWCITY survey area, observe property conditions, and complete scantron survey forms for each parcel within the area
• Receive a NEWCITY T-shirt
NEWCITY will host groups of 10 or more at Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center to conduct parcel surveys. Groups can contact Ciara Stein at 504-821-7236 or [email protected], to schedule a volunteer day during the weekday or on the weekend. The minimum time commitment is three hours.
