Thank you for your interest in donating your time and energy to Project MANA! As a volunteer, you will play an important role in our mission to reduce the incidence of hunger and promote nutrition through education and awareness throughout North Lake Tahoe and Truckee.

Current Needs:
WEEKLY FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Vehicle: Not required, must have transportation to the distribution site

Position Description
Weekly Emergency Food Distributions are the primary way in which Project MANA provides food to community members who need it. Volunteers are an essential part of making our distributions run smoothly.
Help organize food and ensure fair distribution of food items to all community members.
We ask that volunteers arrive 30- 45 minutes early to help with set-up, and stay 10-15 minutes to help with clean-up.

Project MANA distributes food each week at the following sites in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area:

Monday, Fairway Community Center, Tahoe City – 3:00 – 3:30 pm
Tuesday, Truckee Donner Senior Apartments Community Room, Truckee – 3:30 – 4:00 pm
Wednesday, Community House, Kings Beach – 3:00 – 3:30 pm
Thursday, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Incline Village – 3:00 – 3:30 pm

Report to: Program Director

WAREHOUSE MAINTENANCE
Time Commitment: Flexible, based on availability of volunteer and food supply

Vehicle: Not required, must have transportation to our Truckee office.

Position Description
Warehouse maintenance ensures that the food Project MANA receives with the generosity of the community can be promptly distributed to those who need it.
Sort, date-check, and properly store incoming rescued food and donations.
Pack emergency food bags and boxes.
Ensure that all food storage areas are organized and clean.

Report to: Food Supply Manager

TRUCK LOADER
​Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a week, mid-day

Vehicle: Not required, must have transportation to Truckee office.

Position description:
Volunteers who load our truck ensure food in our warehouse is delivered to the community in a safe and efficient way.
Ensure our delivery truck is loaded, organized and ready for distribution.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively

HOST A FOOD DRIVE
Time Commitment: Variable, food drives are generally organized and carried out independently by volunteers so time commitment depends on the scale of the food drive.

Vehicle: Not required, Project MANA can pick up food donations over 300 lbs.

Position Description:
Project MANA relies on donations made through food drives for much of the food that we distribute in the community.
Collect food donations for Project MANA that are distributed to hungry community members in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee.
Volunteers who coordinate food drives work with groups or individuals to gather nonperishable that are un-opened and un-expired to be donated to Project MANA. Volunteers are responsible for organizing all aspects of the food drive with support from Project MANA Staff as needed.

Other Roles (Currently Filled):

OFFICE ASSISTANT
Time commitment: 1-2 hours a week

Vehicle: Not required, must have transportation to Truckee office (or Incline office)

Position Description
Office Assistant volunteers help increase the capacity of Project MANA’s small staff so that we may ensure that our programs run smoothly and we are able to serve those in need to the best of our ability.
Assist with various tasks in the office such as data entry, filing, and organizing.
This position requires some basic knowledge of office work and computers.

FOOD AND COMPANIONSHIP EXCHANGE (FACE)
Time Commitment: 2 hours per week

Vehicle: Required, for deliverers must be suitable for transporting groceries. FACE delivery drivers must also have a valid drivers license.

Position Description
Assist in providing weekly deliveries of groceries to home bound community members who can not physically attend our weekly food distributions.
Provide home bound community members with companionship and connections to other social services if necessary, and if desired.

​Additional Requirement: We ask that FACE delivery drivers consent to a criminal background check, since the community members receiving food belong to vulnerable populations (chronic illness, senior citizens).

FOOD AND COMPANIONSHIP EXCHANGE (FACE) BAG PACKING
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a week, Monday or Tuesday mid-day

Vehicle: Not required. Must have transportation to Truckee office.

Position Description:
Ensure that bags are packed each week and ready for delivery.
Pack grocery bags with produce or canned goods according to each individual’s requests and dietary needs.

FOOD EXPRESS
Time commitment: 1-2 hours a week

Vehicle: Required, vehicle with ample storage space recommended.

Position Description
Food Express volunteers help save perfectly good food from being wasted while providing things like bread, dairy products, and deserts to hungry people in local communities.
Pick up food from Safeway, SaveMart, New Moon, Raley’s, and local farmer’s markets.
Weigh and record rescued food at pre-determined drop-off location.
* This position may require some heavy lifting and driving

LET'S TALK TURKEY *Seasonal: Fall ONLY
Time Commitment: 2 hours on the day of distribution

Tuesday, November 21st, Truckee Donner Senior Apartments, Truckee – 3:30 – 4:00 pm
Wednesday, November 22nd, Boys and Girls Club, Kings Beach – 3:00 – 4:00 pm
Thursday, November 16th, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Incline Village – 3:00 – 3:30 pm

Vehicle: Not required, must have transportation to distribution site

Position Description
Assist Project MANA in preparing for and executing our annual Thanksgiving food distribution.
Help with set-up, clean-up and distribution of food on the day of distribution at one of our four distribution sites: Tahoe City, Truckee, Kings Beach or Incline Village.
*May require some heavy lifting

FUNDRAISERS AND EVENTS
Time commitment: Flexible, dependent on fundraising event and availability

Vehicle: Not required, must have transportation to Incline office or event.

Position Description
Fundraising events are vital for funding all of Project MANA’s programs and often would not be possible without the help of volunteers.
Provide support in preparing for and putting on our various fundraising events throughout the year.
Assist in the development of fundraising plans. Support Project MANA staff before and during our yearly fundraising events as needed.
