About Support Portsmouth Community Radio - Local, live, volunteer, non-commercial

We are more than just a radio station! WSCA Portsmouth Community Radio is a nonprofit, free-form, local radio station. This means anyone can become a DJ and play the music and programming they want to play. We are entirely volunteer-run and listener supported. WSCA plays all kinds of local and popular music, from your old favorites to new and emerging artists. We also have talk, news, and audio theatre programming! Our space is a hub for local artists to meet, collaborate, and create together. We host live music almost every weekend, giving a safe and intimate space for local and touring bands to play. Inclusivity is vital to our mission, we are made up of a diverse group of volunteers who ensure everyone in our community feels welcome in our space.

A quote from one of our volunteers on why they love WSCA - “It is a wonderful and welcoming space of free and beautiful artistic expression”

We don’t just play tunes on the radio! We recently updated our mission to add our vision to become a leading platform for fostering community engagement and growth through radio programming, podcast production, broadcast technology, and community outreach. This means giving a platform to and increasing visibility for organizations like food pantries, crisis centers, and recovery programs. We also recently joined the Greater Portsmouth Youth Wellness Coalition, a huge effort to mitigate risk and promote sustainable well-being for all young people.

In order to continue our mission, we need your support. We are currently looking for a more sustainable space for the radio station to continue building our capacity as a community resource and safe space. WSCA Portsmouth Community Radio is a foundational resource for the Greater Seacoast area that exists to sustain a space for small, local artists to grow and flourish. Joining WSCA is open to all ages and provides educational opportunities for students in organizational development, fundraising, marketing, photography, event planning, programming, news, broadcasting, and more.
