Make an exponential difference

Spreading awareness is a great way to help support our cause.

The Portage County Literacy Council believes that all adults have the right to literacy. We work with adults to help them achieve the ability to read, write, and speak English; understand basic math; and use information to make decisions. Literacy gives adults the tools they need to find and keep sustainable employment, avoid poverty, assist their children, improve their health and wellness, and get involved in the community. We provide one-on-one tutors and select classes and workshops, and increase public awareness of literacy issues facing adults in our community. We are a member of ProLiteracy and Wisconsin Literacy.

About the Organization

Portage County Literacy Council

The Portage County Literacy Council is a nonprofit based in Stevens Point that helps people living and/or working in Portage County obtain the basic math and English literacy skills they need to achieve economic self-sufficiency and community integration. We work with adult basic education and English language learners. PCLC provides tutors and classes free of charge to help learners reach their literacy goals.
