About Innovative Engagement Strategies for Community-Supported Planning

Kickoff NH Gives with Plan NH as we host planner and architect Mark Evans for a special presentation on Innovative Engagement Strategies for Community-Supported Planning. Mark will share successes and lessons learned from his 30+ years of experience creating transformative plans for vibrant and walkable neighborhoods, villages, and downtowns. Throughout his time leading teams in the preparation of downtown plans, master plans, traditional neighborhood ordinances, and form-based codes, Mark has initiated community engagement strategies to bring together public planning goals and private development realities. Hear about specific engagement techniques for developing walkable, mixed use places that support local commerce while staying rooted in local architectural traditions. Case studies will focus on national examples from small towns and villages of comparable size to the average community here in New Hampshire.

Mark Evans is the Director of Planning for Derck & Edson, a full-service planning and design firm with a mission to shape the natural and built environment in innovative and functional ways. Derck & Edson prides themselves in their inclusive approach to planning that engages the community and its stakeholders in ways that have generated enthusiasm and a high degree of support for planning and enhancement projects across the country.
