About June Meetup - Helen Hiatt, Concert Costume Designer

Behind the glitz and glamour of the concert scene are the people whose work gives these performers their characteristic look. Though they may not be seen or recognized as much as the stars themselves, their work is just as vital to the success of the show. Pattern's next Meetup brings Helen Hiatt into the spotlight, a concert costume designer who has worked and toured with the likes of Prince, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, and Jimmy Buffet.

Helen began her career designing for local theaters before her big break in Minneapolis in the 80s, when she began working with Prince. During this time she did design for "Purple Rain" and prepped costumes for his shows. From here she went on to co-design for Billy Idol and designed for Paula Abdul's "Spellbound" tour. Since the 90's Helen has been in charge of costumes for Jimmy Buffet's tours, helping to bring the beach to his concertgoers!

We welcome anyone interested in the ins and outs of costume design or those interested in what it is really like to be on tour with an artist to join us for what will be an awesome evening of discussion. Come be inspired and discover more about the work that goes into giving our favorite stars their signature sparkle!
