About Trash for Cash!

Help our scholars:
• EARN SERVICE HOURS
• BEAUTIFY THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS
• AND RAISE MONEY FOR STUDENT AWARDS!

Many of our students lost jobs and family income due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our students regularly help their households with food and technology costs. Our hope is that our scholars can focus on SAT and college prep without losing the opportunity to earn that much-needed money from a part-time job. We believe that by providing incentives to stay focused on their academic pursuits, more students will achieve the goals that will ultimately launch them beyond the barriers of poverty.

Our flagship academic program provides social-emotional learning experiences through our enrichment workshops, expert SAT prep with a 250 point average score increase, and career and college exploration with academic coaches. Based on their continued commitment to these ongoing fellowship activities students receive stipends, or cash awards, in addition to the competitive peer environment and mentor support.

“Being a part of PTC this summer was honestly great. The workshops were extremely helpful and helped me decide which career path I would like to take. The stipends encouraged all of us to push ourselves over the summer. I’m grateful for the weekly SAT Prep; it’s helped strengthen my math, reading and grammar skills making me feel more prepared.” - Ketura

Thanks to our Student Stipend Fund, provided by generous donors like you, all Path to College Fellows are incentivized to continue their college prep and academic enrichment even amidst challenges. And in return, we are committed to giving back during this unique giving season.

Join us! Sponsor a student with some green while they clean! Students are seeking donors to match their mileage while they collect litter in their neighborhoods and local parks. Browse our students’ profiles, select your matched dollar amount for each step they take or bag they fill, and stay tuned for photos and updates as they complete their week of challenges. Each day we’ll feature a virtual challenge to motivate students and encourage participation! Follow along: #TrashforCashPTC
