About Us

The mission of the Orleans County Historical Society is to preserve, protect and promote the Old Stone House Museum and its buildings in the Brownington Historic District; to collect, record and preserve materials relating to Orleans County; and to promote research and develop educational programs relating to Orleans County. We envision the future of the Old Stone House Museum as a nationally recognized historic district and education center, a destination known for its unique ability to explore Vermont’s history of educational reform and blend of diverse cultures in ways that engage and inspire a contemporary audience.
