About Help High School Seniors Figure Out Financial Aid!

Promise Scholars, an early, universal college awareness program for all students in Ontario and Montclair, is looking for volunteers to offer one-on-one FAFSA or California Dream Act Application assistance to 12th graders at our Cash for College Workshops.

Promise Scholars Cash 4 College Workshops:

Applying for financial aid can be very intimidating. The goal of the Cash 4 College Workshops is to guide high school seniors and their families through the process of completing their FAFSA or Dream Act Application for financial aid. The workshops will take place in computer labs, libraries, and classrooms. Each family will have access to one computer to complete their application. Volunteers will be needed to work with at least five families to assist them step by step through the process. Volunteers will have support from financial aid advisers and financial experts.

Come help students secure financial aid early and accurately!

Volunteers will:
-Be trained on different financial aid and how to facilitate filling out the applications
-Assist at least five families during one session step by step through the application process
-Assist in setting up computers for the application process
-Bring themselves and their trained brain
-Use any Spanish skills possessed (Bilingual volunteers needed)
-Answer general financial aid questions if volunteer is a Financial Aid Expert (Background in Finances)
-Be provided snacks and beverages throughout the workshop

Only a few hours of your day can help Fund A Future in the Ontario-Montclair region!

Volunteers must attend a 1 hour training at Inland Empire United Way prior to volunteering. Please email to learn about the times for training. At the training, interested volunteers will learn more about Promise Scholars, a brief history of the workshops, and an overview of volunteer opportunities. The remainder of the training will focus on reading through the FAFSA and Dream Act Applications and preparing the volunteers to answer frequently asked questions that come up at the workshops.
