The Olive Branch Community Food Ministry was founded by a group of caring individuals from local Olive Branch churches to help meet the needs of the food insecure in Olive Branch and DeSoto County.
The ministry is staffed on a weekly rotating basis by volunteers from Olive Branch churches and other citizen volunteers. Food is provided to families who meet the financial need criteria. The pantry is open to clients each Tuesday from 10 AM to 12 Noon and on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM. Clients may come for assistance every thirty days as long as they continue to meet the financial criteria. The pantry obtains food through donations by local businesses and individuals as well as through arrangements with the Mid-South Food Bank and USDA/Mississippi Food Network. Cash donations help fund additional food purchases.
The pantry was founded in 1987 and utilized a storage locker to hold food donations. It has grown steadily since then both in numbers of families served and in those who support the pantry through cash and food donations. As the need has increased so has our ministry.
