About Volunteers

As a not-for-profit arts organization serving the community, the Globe relies on the generosity of volunteers. Volunteering opportunities are available in numerous areas at the Globe, such as, in our Administrative Offices (Marketing, Development, Business, Education etc.), Costume Shop, Helen Edison Gift Shop and Lady Carolyn's Pub. Interested individuals can also volunteer as backstage tour Docents, Patron Services Ambassadors and Ushers for our shows. In return for their contribution of time, volunteers are given the opportunity to see productions at The Old Globe free of charge.
Although the benefits provided in return vary depending upon the number of hours devoted to The Old Globe, most volunteers will receive invitations for themselves and a guest to attend final dress rehearsals, including Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, the perennial Old Globe holiday favorite. As a Volunteer Usher, you will be guaranteed to see all the shows in every season. All Volunteers receive discounts at the Helen Edison Gift Shop and Lady Carolyn's Pub.
In addition to seeing some of the best theatrical shows in San Diego for free and the satisfaction of helping support one of the top regional theatres in the country, you also will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most dedicated and talented theatre professionals in the world.
