About City of Starkville Animal Shelter Adoption Outreach Coordinator

Overview
The OCHS Board of Directors is looking for an outgoing, professional, and committed Adoption Outreach Coordinator to promote adoption of pets in the City of Starkville Animal Shelter.
Reports to: City of Starkville Shelter Manager/Director of Operations with input from the Shelter and Outreach Committee
Pay: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours/week, Monday – Friday and some Saturdays. Individual must be flexible.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Organizing, promoting, and managing bi-monthly, off-site adoption events and monthly on-site adoption promotions/events/initiatives
• Recruiting, training and managing foster families
• Writing creative features for shelter animals for promotion on Facebook, Twitter, local newspapers, and the quarterly E-newsletter
• Coordinating Rescue Waggin’® transports in collaboration with the Shelter Manager/Director of Operations
Required Skills/Experience:
• Exceptional, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Ability to plan, organize and delegate tasks/initiatives
• Desire to create relationships with community members on behalf of OCHS and work with a diverse group of people
• Demonstrated ability using Windows Operating Systems, Internet Explorer, Facebook, and Twitter
• Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
• B.A. or B.S. degree
• Experience in public relations, marketing, or some other outreach experience
• Experience handling and working with animals
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a kennel/shelter setting. Exposure to disinfectant solutions and zoonotic diseases possible.
