About Summer Junior Auxiliary Program

The OCH Regional Medical Center Auxiliary's goal is to supplement the efforts of the hospital staff, allowing busy staff members the time necessary to fulfill their first priority: administering care to patients. To that end, they have volunteers perform roles throughout the hospital, including the main lobby desk, the gift shop, and providing snacks and drinks to patients. They also have special projects, including assembling and delivering goody bags to pediatric patients, awarding scholarship to students pursuing a degree in the medical field, and distributing “Read to Me” bags for new mothers (in conjunction with Emerson Family Resource Center).

Every summer, the OCH Regional Medical Center also has a junior auxiliary. This gives the regular volunteers a break for a couple of months, and allows students ages 13-18 the opportunity to serve others and gain valuable work experience. Junior volunteer opportunities include front desk receptionist, visiting patient rooms, and working in the gift shop. Being a part of the junior auxiliary is a great way for kids interested in joining a medical field to get hands-on experience in seeing how a hospital operates, and it's also a very rewarding way to just give back to your community! They are looking for approximately ten volunteers and the hours are very flexible, so you will always be able to work around your schedule.

A junior volunteer interest meeting will be held Thursday, May 28, at noon in the OCH Community Room. New members must purchase an apron for $10. For more information, contact OCH Volunteer Service Coordinator Lauren Gardner at 662-615-3065 or [email protected].
