About Volunteer Social Media Manager

Position Description:
The Social Media Volunteer position of O.P. Veteran will:, create, maintain and enhance O.P. Veteran’s digital presence and grow O.P. Veteran’s online community; develop and plan short and long term social media goals, stay up-to-date on social media best practices; recommend new ideas for follower engagement; and assist internal partners with content development as needed. The ideal candidate must be passionate about our mission and must be able to devote a substantial amount of time to the position.

Key Job Functions:
1. Create and lead social media initiatives on OPV’s social media channels, especially the main events such as:
a. Vet Fest
b. Spring Kickoff
c. Engagement Events
d. Events designated by the CEO
2. Create and manage a social media calendar.
3. Provide social media expertise including knowledge of best practices.
4. Ensure branding standards and messaging are maintained across all channels.
5. Complete daily postings.
6. Live-cover events, including fundraisers and community events.
7. Monitor and engage with user comments across all social media channels.
8. Respond to online inquiries in a timely manner.
9. Report on and provide recommendations to enhance results of social media efforts.
10. Dedication to the O.P. Veteran mission, vision, and philosophy.

Skills:
1. Excellent writing and editing skills.
2. Highly organized, able to multitask and work both quickly and independently.
3. Strong aesthetic eye and attention to detail.
4. An understanding of social media’s landscape and best practices.
5. Ability to create graphics for use on social media as needed.
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to seek solutions collaboratively.
8. Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude.
