About Beech st & Pomps Ln acquisition

After 3 1/2 years, the NBLCT finally took ownership of 37 acres of Regional Water Authority (RWA) woodlands on Beech St and Pomps Ln. adjacent to Lake Gaillard. Now we set out on the long path to restoring and developing the land for passive recreation and education. We now have to clear invasives, create parking and trails! This is the first time this land will be open to the public for walking, studying nature, photography and other enjoyable activities.
This year's Great Give is one venue we are using to raise the funds to accomplish our goals.
Here is a short list:
* Build the the first ADA-accessible trail in North Branford which will include an ADA compliant parking lot and trail to the vernal pond
* Protect the young oaks and other native saplings that are growing on the land before the deer devour them.
* Create a chestnut tree nursery and try to reestablish this cherished tree.
* Clear the invasives to allow native plants to get established.
* Build a trail system.
* Build a lookout to view Lake Gaillard.
We need help with trail clearing, building, and maintenance, land management, and fundraising, With your support, we can make this happen!
