About Us

NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire has a twenty-eight year history of addressing housing and neighborhood revitalization needs in New Hampshire. Founded in 1992, the organization has created or acquired a total of 455 affordable rental units to date in six communities—Manchester, Nashua, Londonderry, Goffstown, Hooksett, and Amherst. Another 45 affordable rental units in Merrimack will be completed later this summer, as well as an additional 4 new rental units on Manchester’s West Side. We help financially disadvantaged families achieve greater economic stability so they may escape a cycle of financial struggle or poverty and build a better future for themselves and the communities in which they live. We do this through a focus on housing and community building.

All of the tenants of our properties have total income that is below 60% of total area median family income for the region. For example, a family of 4 people living in one of our apartments in Manchester whose income is at 50% of the area median income makes less than $44,300 per year with the maximum income level being $53,160.

The financial crisis brought on by the COVID-19 health situation has impacted employment of a significant percentage of residents living in our apartments, many of whom work in service and related industries, including restaurants and retail. We have established a Rental Assistance Relief Fund to help tenants who have experienced job loss or wages due to the COVID-19 crisis. This Fund will provide direct financial assistance to tenants, helping them pay their rent so they can focus their available financial resources on purchasing food, gas, and medicine for their family. The Fund will help them not fall further behind financially as they are among those with the least means to weather such a financial situation.

Your donation to NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire through NHGives is eligible to receive a dollar for dollar match up to $1,000 while matching funds are available. We encourage you to give as close to the 6:00 pm opening time on June 9th, as any match to your donation will be directed to our Rental Assistance Relief Fund. Your contribution will help this organization continue to create quality, affordable housing for low income families in New Hampshire and help those who have been impacted severely by the current financial crisis.

We appreciate your generosity and support!
