n+1 offers internships to college students and recent graduates for the spring, summer, and fall. The internship requires a part-time, three-to-four month commitment to our New York office and gives a wide-ranging introduction to the work of a small magazine. Interns assist with evaluating submissions, research, proofreading, event planning, publicity, website administration, and more.
Most n+1 editors work on a volunteer basis and we ask our interns to volunteer their time as well. We do however offer a transportation stipend and try to accommodate and support outside funding and paid work as much as we can.
To apply, please send the following application materials to firstname.lastname@example.org: a one-page cover letter describing your interest in the internship, a résumé, and a one-page response to any piece in the most recent issue. Spring applications are due by December 1, summer applications by March 1, and fall applications by June 1.
