Monroe County Habitat for Humanity's (MCHFH) vision is a world where every person has a safe, decent place to live. This year we are focusing on our Home Preservation program. Home Preservation enables Monroe County homeowners with limited income to make necessary and often critical repairs on their homes. These repairs include, but are not limited to roof replacements, new doors, windows and floors, deck and porch repairs, new appliances including stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, handicap accessible bathroom rehabilitations and kitchen rehabilitations When necessary repairs are completed homes are safer, healthier places to live and homeowners and their families become more self-sufficient and productive. These families often have lower utility bills and miss less work and school due to illness. The families gain renewed pride in their homes and have a sense of security. The mission of MCHFH is “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Monroe County Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”
The expected outcomes of Home Preservation are that 100 Monroe County Homeowners will have safer, healthier, more efficient homes this year than they had before they participated in the program. Many of these individuals might have lost their homes if MCHFH did not intervene with repairs through the Home Preservation program, they will now remain in their homes. It is expected that these homeowners will have, increased health, self-sufficiency lower utility bills.
