About America Reads Volunteer

If you can commit at least one hour a week, you can help a child who’s falling behind in reading. RSVP’s America Reads program will place you at a school where you will be matched with a child in pre-K through 3rd grade who needs reading help. You will receive literacy development training, materials and guidance to make your volunteer experience both rewarding and effective.

Application Process

We anticipate needing to fill volunteer positions at the following America Reads sites for the 2018-19 school year: Francestown, Marlborough, Troy, Drewsville Head Start, and Swanzey Head Start. Volunteers complete an interview and application process and undergo criminal background and reference checks. In addition, mandatory training will be offered on the following dates this fall. Volunteers only need to attend one training session.

In Peterborough: Wednesday, September 19th from Noon – 4:30 p.m.

In Keene: Tuesday, September 25th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
