When I first became interested in learning about wildlife rehabilitation, all I wanted to do was know the right thing to do for a baby bird or mammal in case I found one. Little did I know that decision would change my life. Wildlife rehabilitation is one of the most rewarding things I have ever endeavored to do!I never wanted to make pets out of wildlife, only to raise them and put them back out in nature as they were intended.
Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation holds workshops every Spring to teach new volunteers how to help wildlife in need. MWR also supplies the species specific formulas, bottles, syringes with tiny nursing nipples and rehydration fluids. You will be asked to provide your own heating pad and scales to weigh your babies. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to work with wild animals. It is not recommended that volunteers have very young children at home. Volunteer may be required to pick up animals and bring them to the Director for evaluation and further instruction. Yearly updated workshops are mandatory. Volunteers must reside in Mississippi.
