About Water quality sampling

May through October, the Missisquoi River Basin Association conducts an annual water quality monitoring program. This is a bi-weekly sampling program, targeting 28 sites throughout the Missisquoi River System and its tributaries, such as the Hungerford Brook, Black Creek, Mud Creek, and Tyler Branch. These sampling sites are spread throughout the Towns of Berkshire, Enosburgh, Fairfield, Fairfax, Highgate, Newport, North Troy, Richford, Sheldon, St. Albans, Swanton, Westfield and the Village of Enosburg Falls.

We are seeking interested volunteers who are willing to sample locations throughout the Missisquoi watershed in the municipalities listed above. Volunteers get the opportunity to learn about local water quality issues through educational opportunities and hands-on experience, as well as playing an integral role in monitoring the health of our watershed. Plus, collecting samples enables our volunteers to spend extra time outside enjoying the natural beauty of the Missisquoi watershed!

If you are interested or would like more information about volunteering, sampling sites, or any aspect of our water sampling program, feel free to contact us at [email protected] or 802-393-0076.
