About BC Vision Opportunity Fair Volunteers

Purpose Statement: The Battle Creek Opportunity Fair is a unique and innovative approach to engage individuals actively seeking employment in the Battle Creek community. The Opportunity Fair is intended to do just that; provide someone with the opportunity to meet with professionals to assist with developing or updating a work resume, receive coaching and instruction in interviewing skills, and receive a competitive edge in getting a job with one of the local employers. In addition, individuals attending the Opportunity Fair will also have the chance to meet with representatives from various community organizations for assistance in removing any potential barriers or personal obstacles (including housing, transportation, child care, mental and physical health, financial education, basic daily living needs, court involvement, etc.) that would prevent he/she from becoming and remaining employed.

Volunteers Needed for Each Site:
• (3) Greeters to handle welcoming of participants, registration and warm handoff to Community Navigators and Employment Coaches.
• (5) Mock Interviewers to conduct interviews using scripted questions and provide feedback for participants.

Time Commitment:
We would like volunteers to commit to a four hour shift on the date of the Opportunity Fair that they are available to work. We also ask that they arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the shift that they sign up for to review job duties and answer any questions that they have.
