About Volunteer with the Mercy Center

Volunteers are a vital part of the Mercy Center for Women. We appreciate the value of your time and talents. Every opportunity gives us the chance to improve the lives of the women and children we serve.
If you or a group are interested in volunteering, please review the opportunities below and apply if interested.
MACC Food Pantry: stocking items for the food pantry, helping out on distribution days. MACC Food Pantry is a great way for students to get their service hours in! Distribution days are Tuesdays 2-4pm and Fridays 10am-12pm. Stocking days are Mon, Tues and Thurs at 10am.
Dress for Success: help with accepting donations on Wednesdays as well as sort through clothing. Might also be asked to help the DFS Coordinator with suiting appointments.
Office/Reception Volunteer: Assist in daily activities such as answering the phone and greeting visitors, preparing mailings, accepting in-kind donations, and any upcoming projects.
Child Care Volunteer: Assist in watching the residents' children while they participate in group classes, going to appointments/job interviews, and Christmas preparations.
Event Volunteer: Participate in our annual events, such as National Night Out, Pedal for Mercy, and our Community Thanksgiving event (to name a few!)
Group Volunteers: We welcome group volunteers who may need service hours, work-endorsed volunteering, project hours, and/or just for fun. Currently, one of our biggest needs for this is volunteering at our Food Pantry (single or group volunteer opportunity). Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Erin with your requirements and ideas. We will do our best to provide a great volunteer experience! She can be reached at edworakowski@mcwerie.org or call the office and ask for Erin (814) 455-4577.
Application Process
Volunteers must complete their clearances. PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal Background Check, and if they have not lived in the state of Pennsylvania for 10 consecutive years, they are required to get their Fingerprinting done. All of the above are free- with the exception of the Fingerprinting. If that is needed, you will be reimbursed. All information will be sent to you when you get ahold of our volunteer coordinator.
Family-Friendly
Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
