March of Dimes fights for the health of all moms and babies. We're advocating for policies to protect them. We're working to radically improve the health care they receive. We're pioneering research to find solutions. We're empowering families with the knowledge and tools to have healthier pregnancies. By uniting communities, we're building a brighter future for us all.
This year's Amplify Austin effort is focused on leading the fight for the health of all moms and babies. In Austin, 1 in 10 babies are born too soon. March of Dimes is determined to end preventable maternal morbidity and mortality, end the health equity gap, end prematurity and infant mortality by leading and innovating, mobilizing action and delivering direct impact to our local communities and across the globe. IT’S NOT FINE that America is the most dangerous places to give birth in the developed world.
March of Dimes is also focused on funding our Austin NICU Family Support program at Dell Children's Medical Center. Our March of Dimes NICU Family Support provides one on one comfort, education and support to families whose child is born too soon or too sick and has to stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Dell Children's. Our program is a collaborative with the Seton and is designed to help care for the whole family (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.) while the amazing hospital staff care for the baby. Our NICU Family Support Specialist will work directly with families admitted to Dell Children's to ensure they receive support, comfort and the information needed to navigate such a difficult journey. NICU Family Support provides an extra level of care and support during a very emotional time.
March of Dimes is also creating workplace initiatives, research studies and educational programs that aim to help employers and medical professionals end the health equity gap.

With 1 in 10 babies in Texas being born too soon, we have a lot of work to do. It's NOT FINE that America is the most dangerous place to give birth in the developed world. We provide one on one support and educational programs that are relevant to families' NICU experience while celebrating milestones and significant moments. This includes; providing Parent Care Kit's with tools for families during their NICU journey, unique opportunities to celebrate and remember baby's milestones, family activities such as valentines brunches and Mother's/Father's Day events. Along with opportunities for the families to engage with each other and create a supportive community within the NICU.
