About Volunteer Copy Editor for Lucky Plush Productions

Lucky Plush seeks a Copy editor to join our inaugural volunteer marketing team. With a mission to craft outstanding and far-reaching external communications, the team will infuse marketing materials with Lucky Plush’s unique onstage voice, which has been described as smart, funny, charming, and relatable. Before they are deployed, the copy editor will review social media posts, eblasts, digital and printed ads, and more. Copy editor will fix grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors, double check that names, places and organizations are spelled properly, that facts, dates and statistics are accurate, and will review word choice (in the sense that he/she makes sure the words mean what the author thinks they mean). The copy editor will act as a second line of defense to assure that content is relevant and appropriate. An upcoming project includes the creation of an advertising campaign for our performances of Tab Show at the Harris Theater April 26th-27th, but there will be opportunities to review copy for other projects as well.

Requirements:

One or more years copy editing experience.
Excellent writing skills.
Extreme attention to detail is a must.
Tuned in to current events.
Sensitivity to how readers may react to content.
Ability to work independently and remotely.
Estimated time per week is 1+ hours.
Length of commitment is negotiable, but preferably able to commit to two months starting immediately, with the option for ongoing relationship.
This is a volunteer position.
