About Become a Tutor!

LVMPC offers free, innovative, and confidential adult and family literacy programs designed to increase the fundamental skills of our learners.

Our programming includes but is not limited to the following free services:

INDIVIDUAL SERVICES
One-on-one Basic Reading Tutoring
One-on-one English as a Second Language Tutoring
High School Equivalency (TASC) Targeted Tutoring

SMALL GROUP CLASSES, SEMINARS, AND WORKSHOPS
Basic and Intermediate Computing Skills
Basic Keyboarding
Financial Literacy Workshops and Seminars
Family Literacy Programming
Children’s Literacy Workshops and Events
Learning Styles and KTS-II Assessments
Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills Workshops and Seminars
US Citizenship Application Preparation
ProLiteracy Certified Tutor Training: Basic Reading
ProLiteracy Certified Tutor Training: English as a Second Language

In order to provide these amazing services, we rely on the volunteerism of community members like you.
That's right -- LVMPC has no paid course instructors or teachers! Our everyday heroes are individuals who believe that every human being has a right to literacy and want to help create a world where that is possible. We provide all materials, training, and resources -- you provide your time, compassion and skills!

Application Process

The LMVPC volunteer application process is conducted during an in-person interview at our offices.
