About Pre-High School Equivalency Tutor

Hey, you! Yes, you! Have you been looking for a volunteer opportunity but need one with a structured timeline and preset goals? Well, this is your lucky day!

Literacy Mid-South is looking for volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with adult learners who are beginning level readers interested in earning their high school diploma. Sessions will take place at the Excel Center located in South Memphis, 38106.

Volunteer tutors must commit to two hours per week in the morning or afternoon, for a period of six months to a year. Training will be provided by Literacy Mid-South and Excel Center prior to being matched with a learner. Teaching experience is not required.

As an added bonus, your learner will receive a certificate after being in the program for a year, even if they choose to stay longer to pursue other goals. This will come complete with a mini ceremony where you can see them recognized for their efforts. How cool is that?
