About Music Demonstrator

Lightner Museum displays mechanical instruments dating from 1875 to 1925 and demonstrates several of them daily at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Music Demonstrations begin with a brief history of the Museum. The Demonstrator then plays each instrument and explains the history of each one and how it works.
Musical ability is not required as all of the instruments are mechanical. However, the Music Demonstrator must be comfortable talking to groups of up to 50 people.
The Music Demonstrator must become familiar with the history and layout of the Museum and have a general knowledge of its collections.
Demonstrations last approximately ½ hour. Music Demonstrators may choose to be scheduled just for the Demonstration or may extend their volunteer time for up to four hours by becoming Museum Docents or Tour Guides.
