About Eco Chica Volunteer

ABOUT THE ECO CHICA CONFERENCE:
Join us for this one-day conference on sustainability, innovation, and social enterprise. Latinitas invites all girls and non-binary students between 9-14 years old to attend the Eco Chica Conference on Saturday, April 29th, 2023. Help girls and non-binary students, ages 9-14, learn the business skills needed to launch their own startup up or product that identifies and solves community issues.

In teams of 6-8 within their age range, they will come up with a creative solution to a problem, pitch the technology based solution to a group of judges, and exit with a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Whether you want to work directly with the chicas or make sure the event is running smoothly by helping with event assistance, we've got a place for you on our volunteer team! Event assistant volunteers, mentors and lunchtime career presenters will be required to attend an orientation regarding volunteer expectations and responsibilities. Orientation instructions will be sent to the e-mail you provide in this form.




EVENT ASSISTANT ROLES:

Set Up Crew (Day Prior Time TBD) 2 Volunteers Needed
-Setting up general event room, registration tables, participant tables
-Placing Latinitas items and signs in designated areas (backdrop for pictures, photo booth materials, equipment)

Registration Team (9:00am to 10:00am) 4 Volunteers Needed
-Welcoming girls and volunteers and directing them to registration area
-Help check in and hand out badges to girls
-Hand out swag bags
-Checking in volunteers, handing them name tag, directing them to designated area based on role, walking them through event space (i.e. volunteer room, main room, bathrooms, lunch space)
-Signing parents up for parent workshop(s)
-Spanish language speakers strongly encouraged!

Survey Floaters (Morning floaters from 9am to 10am & Afternoon floaters from 1pm to 2pm) 2 volunteers needed in morning and 2 in the afternoon
-Preparing, passing out, and collecting surveys and/or certificates

Lunch Time Assistance (11:45am to 12:45pm) 2 to 4 Volunteers Needed
-Assist with setting up lunch
-Help with the distribution of lunch to girls, presenters, and volunteers
-Help with clean up
-Organize girls and career presenters for group photo.

Time Keeper (3:30pm to 5:00pm) 1 volunteer needed
-Helps keep the girls on track during their presentations to judges

Clean Up Crew (5:00pm to 6:00pm) 5 Volunteers Needed
-Clean up and reorganize event room
-Throw away all trash
-Collect all event materials and transport back to Latinitas office

MENTOR/PRESENTER ROLES:

Lead Mentor (All Day 9:00am to 5:00pm) 8 Volunteers Needed
-Teach girls how to turn their ideas into a business or product by guiding them through five processes: problem-solving, finding your market, cost and sell, preparing presentations, and quick pitch practice
-Mentors will oversee groups of 5 - 6.
-Mentors may oversee a group by themselves or paired with another mentor depending on the amount of groups we’ll have.

Co-Mentor (Morning (9:00am to 1:00pm) and Afternoon (1:00pm to 5:00pm) Shift) 8 Volunteers Needed In Morning and 8 in Afternoon
-Will assist the Lead Mentor with activities for the day
