Support the Floating Classroom!

A fun and engaging hands-on program designed to teach both young and old about lake ecology and the issues threatening Lake Winnipesaukee.

A fundraising campaign for Lake Winnipesaukee Association

A beautiful lake in a mountain setting, Lake Winnipesaukee's clear waters are an outstanding natural and economic resource deserving of protection.

The Floating Classroom is a fun and informative hands-on lake ecology program designed to engage both young and old in learning about what shapes Lake Winnipesaukee's natural beauty and the issues that threaten to degrade its pristine waters.

Learning doesn't have to be confined to the classroom! And it shouldn't be when we have a magnificent outdoor classroom in our backyard.  The Floating Classroom is a 2 hour adventure aboard a pontoon boat where participants learn fun and interesting facts about the history, geology, and ecology of the lake and get an opportunity to be the 'scientist', measuring water clarity, temperature, and collecting zooplankton.

Support for the Floating Classroom will allow LWA to keep this important program running and will allow us to expand it to the local area schools.  Currently, local schools do not have the ability to bring students onto Lake Winnipesaukee to learn about the lake in their backyard.  In addition, many children and youth never get the opportunity to go out on a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee due to economic circumstances.  We want to provide the opportunity for adults and children to explore this freshwater ecosystem up close!

" This tour was everything it promised . . . lots of fun & learning, low stress hands on lab activities and informative lecture about geology and history.  Thank you FC crew!"  was one of may wonderful comments received from participants.  Miriam from Concord, NH said the tour was "fantastic support to her home school curriculum."
