Volunteers make Lacawac! Last year nearly 75 different volunteers helped keep Lacawac operating. They included folks with time to spare who see Lacawac as a vital community asset with a mission that they could embrace. Are you one such person? If so, we welcome you to join with your neighbors and pitch in in any way you can help. While we are always looking for new ideas - here are some of the areas Lacawac needs help with...
-Office, clerical and mailings
-Trails - maintainers
-Hosts - for our various workshops, lectures, hikes and special events
-Nature Shop Clerks - on weekends
-Tour Guides (we will train)
-Spring and Fall Work Party for clean-up and opening the buildings
-Tradesmen - with a little time - electrical, plubming, masonry, roofing, carpentry etc.
-Gardeners - for our Native Plants Garden
-Resource Management-Forest Workers - to help with control of invasive species
-Tablers - at events - to pass out literature and sell raffles
-Deer Exclosure Checkers
-Serve on our various advisory committees - fund raising, buildings and grounds, finance, science, etc.
Also we are always looking for people with skills or hobbies they want to share via a workshop, lecture or slide show. Outdoors or environmentally connectred themes are best, but Lacawac also presents programs that deal with the various arts.
