About Volunteer at Kitty Harbor

Kitty Harbor is staffed entirely by volunteers, which means nobody at Kitty Harbor receives money for their time or services. The facility is maintained with donated funds, all of which go directly into caring for the cats and kittens until they are adopted.

-Help Out at the Adoption Center:
There’s a lot to do here to keep the cats healthy and the adopters happy. Please read the job descriptions below to find out if there’s something you’d like to do. We prefer that volunteers commit to at least one regular shift per week, but some of the jobs are more flexible, so feel free to inquire if you’re interested.

-Cleaning Staff:
This is our most needed type of volunteer. Each day litter boxes are cleaned, cats are fed and watered, the floor is swept and mopped, and the dishes are washed. On the weekends we mostly need volunteers in the morning. The facility must be completely clean before we open. Saturday & Sunday shifts are from 9am – 11am, but you can stay longer if you’d like. Naturally, the facility also needs cleaning during the week. Monday-Friday shifts are more flexible, but generally we need volunteers between 5pm – 7pm.

-Transporting:
Several times a month, groups of kittens are taken to be spayed and neutered. Each cat or kitten is housed in an individual carrier, and they need to be taken to the vet early in the morning and picked up later in the day. The volunteer wishing to transport must have an enclosed SUV, van, or station wagon. Days will vary.

-Community Outreach:
A very organized person is needed to contact suppliers and business to set up accounts for things like advertising, printing, donations, purchasing equipment and supplies. We also are looking for someone that wants to coordinate fundraising. These duties can be done at Kitty Harbor or from your home or office.
